| HOW TO USE THIS
OPTIC MOLD: |
There seems to be a craze
going on lately, of having a 'plus' in the middle of the murrini. A
regular 'plus' shaped cavity would not have enough room in the center
to plunge a hot blob of glass down into, so the plus sign in Optic 103
is more of a square with nubs. This gives you those crisp 90 degree
corners, then you build on the nubs to complete the plus, or fill in
the corner sections for the 'checker board' that is now popping up in a
lot of murrini designs, too.
Optic 103 also allows you to 'build' up layers of shapes. Try making a
triangle, encase it, stretch it out just a bit, plunge it into the
square, encase it, stretch it out just a bit, plunge it into the round,
rinse and repeat or mix it up to suit your fancy. All of the cavities
are relatively the same size, so the stretching out step is necessary
to be able to fit into the next 'layer shape' cavity. |
